The photographs are a collection of artist canvas prints that I have taken with a Holga* camera over the past 10 or so years all around the United States, including Indiana, New Orleans, Chicago and Asheville, North Carolina.

Two photos in this show, The Debonair Motel and Wheee!, were previously featured in Light Leaks Magazine.

This is a joint effort with a couple of other artist friends. Mary Lou Hoffa is showing her still life acrylic paintings (They are good! I own one!), and Carrie Strange of Ari Press has some of her beautiful letterpress stationery for sale.

* The photos in this show were taken exclusively with a Holga camera.

The Holga is a medium format 120 film camera, made in Hong Kong, known for its low-fidelity aesthetic.

The Holga’s low-cost construction and simple meniscus lens often yields pictures that display vignetting, blur, light leaks and other distortions. The camera’s limitations have brought it a cult following among some photographers, and Holga photos have won awards and competitions in art and news photography.

Within a few years after the Holga’s introduction to foreign markets, some photographers began using the Holga for its surrealistic, impressionistic scenes for landscape, still life, portrait, and especially, street photography.

These owners prized the Holga for its lack of precision, light leaks, and inexpensive qualities, which forced the photographer to concentrate on innovation and creative vision in place of increasingly expensive camera technology.

See…when his hair is wet you can see it…he DOES have hair!

As you can see, Sam wanted OUT of his stroller…he wanted to run free through the streamers. We can’t wait until he’s a little bigger next year so he can run free.

When he was out…he wanted to yank all of the streamers down…we did not want to be those people (a quick little pic from my iPhone below).

If you haven’t checked this festival out before, I highly recommend it! It was a great time. Be sure to “Like” their Facebook page so you can get updates on next year’s event!

His favorites were in the poultry barn … he loves saying “Quack, quack!” He says it at all birds, though, not just ducks.

Sam won a monkey! He also rode his first ride with mommy. He wasn’t sure what to think of the bumble bees.

Although, because of high winds, the event was a bust, Sam got pretty excited about seeing the balloons (all three of them) floating through the air.

We started the day at Mill Race Park (it was a hot one!) for some bridal party shots.

Ashley was such a beautiful bride. Check out those cute Tom’s shoes peeking out of the bottom of her dress!

Ashley’s lovely grandmother played piano during the wedding. I love this shot.

There was a slideshow of Ashley and Charlie together through the years during the ceremony on the big screen…it was a neat idea!

The wedding ceremony was at The Ridge and was officiated by their youth group minister.

In case you’ve never been there, Columbus is known for its interesting and beautiful architecture. Go visit!

I love the look of the Crump Theatre, and it is still operating! Check out the retro ticket booth and doors. So cool.
